What’s up, everyone? How are we feeling, today? Amanda here with a new blog to hopefully help you say “not today” to feelings of panic and negativity.

It’s no secret that EMS students and frontline workers are susceptible to mental fatigue and physical burnout. Luckily, there are endless ways to keep a level head during times of stress, including meditation, eating right and physical activity— and don’t be afraid to get creative! My favorite way to stay above water is through positive feedback— specifically through affirmations.

Affirmations are a great way to stay mindful during the beginning of a long shift or a stressful encounter. By reminding yourself of the present moment, you can steer yourself away from a breakdown or a flustered state of mind. Say these out loud in the mirror before work or replay your favorites silently in your head. Having an arsenal of positive thoughts on a cloudy day is a game-changer.

Here are a few affirmations that are perfect for EMS students and EMTs;

I am preparing for my future, one step at a time.
I create my life with my thoughts. My thoughts are powerful. I am in control of my thoughts.
My mindset is powerful.
Failure is a mindset.
I’m ready for the next step in my career.
I give myself permission to take breaks when I’m tired.
I bring positivity and productivity into my station.
The challenges of being an EMT excite me.
I am proud of how far I have come in my EMS career.
I am inspired and motivated.
I focus on progress.
It’s okay to not know everything on the field.
Studying feels difficult right now, but taking the exam will be easy.
Mistakes are opportunities to learn.
When I mess up, I can try another approach.
I ask for help when I need it.

There you have it, lovely readers. Thanks for following along and remember to be extra kind to yourself for working so hard! A positive mindset will take you far, don’t forget that!
